Speaker: Brian Hurley, MD, MBA, DFASAM, FAPA is an addiction physician based in California and the Medical Director of the Division of Substance Abuse Prevention and Control for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. President-Elect of the American Society of Addiction Medicine Board of Directors. Clinical Director of Addiction Treatment Starts Here programs through the Center for Care Innovations.
CE Learning Objectives:
- Describe the epidemiology of the overdose crisis in the United States and in Los Angeles County
- Identify the risks and benefits of prescription opioid medications.
- Recognize when the initiation, continuation, and modification of treatment with prescription opioids and be capable of recognizing when changes to treatment with opioids are following an evidence-based framework.
- Review the differences between the Published 2016 Opioid Prescribing Guidelines and the 2022 Proposed Draft Guidelines.
