Social media platforms, boasting approximately 3.8 billion users globally, have surged in popularity. Notably, platforms like TikTok and Instagram have evolved into crucial channels for disseminating accurate healthcare information.

Beyond their role in public awareness, these platforms also serve as educational tools for healthcare professionals. For instance, the Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy at the University of Hawaii at Hilo initiated an open-resource Instagram page offering FDA drug approval updates to pharmacists. The page, presented at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists 2023 Midyear Clinical Meeting and Exhibition, has shared over 400 drug posters since June 2023.

These posters, covering FDA-approved drugs from 2015 to 2023, provide comprehensive information on medicinal chemistry, indications, pharmacology, dosage, mechanisms of action, pharmacokinetics, interactions, contraindications, and adverse effects. Utilizing color coding and illustrations, the visually engaging posters aim to enhance pharmacists' understanding, critical thinking, and clinical reasoning skills. The initiative addresses the surge in new drug approvals, particularly in categories like oncology, infectious disease, and central nervous system drugs, offering a valuable educational platform and medication information resource.
